Safari 4.0

Here are a couple of new features.

Nitro Engine

With the Nitro Engine Safari executes Javascript 30 times faster than IE 7 and 3 times that of Firefox.

i-Bench JavaScript _{(in seconds)}

Safari 4 Beta – 0.14 s

Chrome 1.0 – 0.20 s

Firefox 3.00 –  .76 s

Firefox 3.1 Beta-  21.04 s

IE – 71.81 s

IE 8 Beta – 0.73 s

As you can see Safari 4 has a huge speed in loading javascript compared to IE 7.

Next is Cover Flow

Safari 4.0

What Cover flow does is allow you to view your history and favorites, via a screenshot of the actual shot. Its the same concept that so many are accustomed by with their [insert ipod/iphone name here] and a feature they recently added to iTunes. I like this addition, but i personally don’t see myself as i find it easier to just go by the name of the website.

Tabs on Top

Tabs on top is alot like what Google is using in Chrome. What this does is list your tabs above your address bar. I personally am used to having the tabs underneath the address bar, but I guess as time goes by I will eventually start getting used to it.

My thoughts

LOVE IT!!! Been using Safari 4 for a little bit now and I really like the direction they are going with it. Fast, easy to use, and feature filled. YAY APPLE !! Safari has officially become my day to day browser. Bye bye Firefox you’ve been great through the years but its time to step over. So my final verdict: Definitely worth a try, Im certain if you give it a shot, Safari will improve your overall web experience.

What this service will do is save you that dollar or so every time you call 411. So how this works is you call 1800-GOOG-411 then you proced like any 411 call, tell the name of the business and the city and province your in.

Just tried, it works great very similar to a regular 411 call, my only problem is that it takes them a little long to connect you to the number you wish to connect to. For example it took them 1 min for them to connect me to pizza hut. But for a free service its wonderful and im sure with all things google it will evovle into something better as time goes on.

The specs:

- Intel Core 2 Duo
- 2GHz
- 3MB L2 cache
- 2GB RAM DDR III, 1066MHz

Honestly I wasn’t too shocked when I heard about the specs as this is very close to what I was expecting Apple to update the mini to. There were rumors of Apple putting an atom processor in the mini but I found that to be a pile of crap due to the fact that the atom would not be able to supply the users of the mac mini with the power required to run day to day applications. With these specs the mac mini would be comparable to a macbook as the internals are very similar.

If the specs stay the same, I will definatly be purchasing the new Mac mini.
